I find the competition between Rapaport, IDEX and WWW very interesting, and it is weird how the better methodologies lose out in significance to the oldest player. Theoretically, I think that we could well work with a static Rap-list and evolving discounts or premiums, but that would obviously kill the subscription-revenue-stream for Rapaport. As a result, each Rap-change disrupts the market to some extent.

The problem I foresee with any price list is..., they (big maybe) service generics while in reality, niche cuts are becoming more 'in demand' and any list can't reflect the prices on those.

    Paul Slegers The most interesting aspect of a price-list (as we know it) is to see, all else remaining equal, how much a G is compared to a H, a VS2 compared to a SI1. In a subconscious way, I think that this is the major use today.
